Spring Lake Ranch offers private trail rides with mini lessons. Your instructor will take you on a riding adventure where you are sure to see some wildlife. 4 hour rides including a fireside lunch ($80), make an enjoyable day. Register early (minimum 4 people) for overnight horseback trips ($200 per person per day). Ride the horsedrawn cart ($50 per hour for 2 people) and have a picnic in the meadow of wild flowers.
Water Activities
Year round there is something for everyone. Spring Lake itself is a rich water resource. Visit the beaver homes by canoe, pedal boat, or rowboat. Catch your first fish. Enjoy the peace of sunbathing on the dock while you enjoy a good book or swim in one of the warmest lakes in the area. Whatever your choice, the serenity of the lake will touch your soul.
Land Activities
Take a leisurely walk through the rolling pasture fields and enjoy the live eagles nesting. Plan a hike around the lake or on the many forest trails. Surrounded by the wonders of nature and sounds of wildlife you will slowly find your self unwinding.
Ranch Activities
You can enjoy your own family time participating in hiking or biking around the lake. Play pingpong, baseball, badminton, volleyball, barrel riding, bocce or pitch a horseshoe. Playing on the small sandy beach, boating or swimming in a clean and private lake make for summertime family fun.
Cattle Time
Taking part in the daily activities is seasonal.
May is the month for branding and sending the cattle out to the range.
October is roundup.
Feeding cattle and horses is a winter chore.
In the summer, one needs to reserve early for an all day range check with a cowboy. During haying season, your young children may want a short ride in the tractor.
Working Vacation
Inquire about a working vacation. Clearing for new hayfields, getting firewood, repairing fences and buildings are never ending tasks. Cleaning rooms, making beds, learning to prepare and serve meals make excellent experiences in the tourism industry. Morning chores and afternoon canoeing or horseback riding make a fun working holiday.
